Operating conditions
Temperature: -100°C ...+200°C
Speed: ≤ 5 m/s
Fluids: Hydraulic fluids (mineral oil based), water emulsions
Compression strength: 20°C ≤ 12 N/mm², 100°C ≤ 7,5 N/mm²
Materials
Alloyed teflon
PO-52 = bronze reinforced, modified PTFE (PO-55)
PO-30 = carbon reinforced, modified PTFE
Advantages
- Can be delivered as cord or cut into right dimensions
- Low friction
- No slip-stick phenomenon
Calculating radial load
FR= (D x L x q / v )x n
FR= maximum radial load (N)
q = compression strength at operating temperature for the given compound (N/mm)
D x L = diameter x seal width (mm)
n = number of rings
v = confidence coefficient (recommendation > 3)
Installation
Into simple groove. Same gap (S) recommended as for Parker rod and piston seals. Gap dependent on H and operating pressure.
Cord length
Cord length: A = 3,14 x B - M
- Gap M from table
- B = guide ring’s effective diameter
- Piston B = øH - L
- Rod B = øH + L
- L = Depth of housing
